The United States has denied a report saying that Mr. Mike Pompeo, the country Secretary of State described Mr. Atiku Abubakar, People Democratic Party presidential candidate as corrupt.
The US Embassy in Nigeria in a statement said, at no point did Pompeo made such statement, and said the story that he did not meet with Atiku when he visited America because he is corrupt, is a lie and a fake news.
The embassy, urged Nigerians to discard the news, describing it as fake.
A reported credited to Pompeo has emerged quoting him to have said, I personally refused to meet Atiku or have anything to do with him. I am really surprised that an individual indicted in the United States of America of huge corruption is being considered for Nigerian President and citizens are even supporting him.
A report the US has since denied, describing it as fake.
Part of the statement reads, “The US Mission to Nigeria has become aware of material making the rounds purporting to be from US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo. We want to state unequivocally that the post is fake.
