Mr. Bola Tinubu, the ruling All Progressives Congress chieftain and former Lagos state governor has tasked the newly elected APC lawmakers to support the party candidate for the 9th National Assembly leadership or leave the party.
Tinubu pointed out that party supremacy and discipline will be above board in the selection of 9th National Assembly leadership.
Tinubu made the position of the party known while speaking to newsmen in Lagos on Friday at a prayer event conveyed by Islamic and Christian clerics to mark his 67th birthday.
The APC chieftain said the mistake of 2015 where the party allowed serpent in and frustrated Nigeria growth and development will not be allowed in the 9th Assembly.
We are going to ensure party discipline, and anybody who deviates from party standard set agreement will be whipped.
Tinubu said it is either elected lawmakers stay and follow APC or leave.
The liberty lawmakers have to choose their leaders does not allow them to collude with opposition party and take away the mandate given to APC.
APC leadership last week declared support for Mr. Ahmed Lawan, a senator from Yobe state to be the Senate President.
And in the Lower Chambers, the House of Representatives, the party favoured Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, an Honourable member from Lagos state as the speaker of the House of Representatives.
A decision some APC lawmakers have faulted with Mr. Ali Ndume, a Senator from Borno state vowing to contest the Senate President position, saying he has the support of his colleagues to join the race.
Mr. Danjuma Goje, a Senator from Gombe state is also in the race for Senate president.
In 2015, Mr. Bukola Saraki, the Senate President and Mr. Yakubu Dogara, Speaker House of Representatives were accused of truncating APC plan while conceding sensitive positions to opposition party to emerge as President and Speaker respectively.
The two leaders of National Assembly leaders dumped their party APC for the opposition People Democratic Party.
An action Tinubu has condemned and vowed never to be allowed to happened again, warning party members who have plan for such a repeat to leave the party.
